Since the 2010 World Expo is around the corner, the Shanghai government is busy preparing for it and out city has taken on a new look.
First and foremost, as we all know, many beautiful and creative pavilions of different countries have been built for the exhibition in the Expo site along the Huangpu River. Besides, the government also pays great attention to the improvement of public transportation. We citizens can find that many roads have been widened and several new metro lines are being built now. Furthermore, the common people of all ages are keen on learning English and even took some foreign language courses, hoping to be a volunteer for the World Expo.
There is no doubt that we have made great achievements, but these are still not enough. For example, first, in my point of view, as the host, we Shanghainese ought to be better informed of the related knowledge of the Expo in order to help foreign visitors. Moreover, some citizens’ spiritual quality is far from satisfactory so that they sometimes disobey “7 Don’ts”.
In short, holding a successful world Expo needs our joint effort. As the theme of Expo 2010 said, "Better City, Better Life," it represents the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future urban environments.

history but it has never been held in Asia. So the 2010 World Expo is
an honor for all of the Asians. ()ur government
has promised that it will be the best one. And Shanghai, as a host
city, will have more chances to develop quickly. As a student in
Shanghai, I should learn English well so that I can be a volunteer in
the Expo to help foreigners know more about Shanghai.
How To Be A Lovely Citizen(如何成为一个可爱的上海人)

Great changes have taken place in Shanghai and more and more
people throughout the world are focusing their attention on Shanghai
now. As a citizen of Shanghai, I feel I must spare no efforts to do my
bit. First, I decide to help plant more trees to make our city more
beautiful. Second, I should obey seven nos and be good at learning from
others. Third, I should study hard so that I can do something better
for my city in the future.

Shanghai 2010 World Expo
The World Expo will be held in Shanghai in our country in two months' time. As a great many people will be visiting the country, the government has already built new hotels, new roads and some special railway lines. The Exhibitions will be held every part of Shanghai and the whole area will be called ' Expo City'. Workers will have completed all the work for World Expo in time. Everybody in our country is watching anxiously as the new buildings go up. We are all very excited and are looking forward to the World Expo they have never been held before in this country. As a student, I am glad to welcome people，especially children from all over the world to our country and wish to have a chance to talk with them and make friends with them.
2个月以后，世界博览会会将在我们国家的上海举行。由于将有大批的人到我们国家来，所以政府已经建造了一些新的饭店、新的道路和一些铁路专线。世博展览将在上海的各个区域举行，整个地区将被称作“世博城”。工人们将会及时完成所有为世博会而做的准备工作。全国人民都急切地注视着新建筑的建成。我们也都非常激动地盼望着世博会的到来，因为在我们国家里还从未举办过世博会。作为一名学生，我真心地欢迎来自世界各地的朋友，尤其是小朋友来到中国，我也希望我能有机会跟他们交流并成为朋友。
