Should Forbiden City open a starbucks inside?
I am not sure whether there is any restaurant inside the Forbiden City. If so, a tranditional Chinese style starbucks will be impressed. With trandtional Chinese style decoration inside the Starbucks makes it more international and especial. However, I'd like to keep the tradition and orignal look. Otherwise, if there is no restaurant inside. I don't think it is a good idea. As we know, Forbiden City is ancient castle which is hundreds of years old. It is full of solemn and sacred. Open any store inside should be very carefully. The shop should be fully integrated into the palace, and to be a supplement of each other. Moreover, starbucks is western style coffee chain. How to balance the culture differences in those two totally different places will be tough. Finally, I believe most Chinese will have a negative opinion for that. There will be a lot of pressure from public. Let's try to image opening a Chinese restaurant in the White house or the Buckingham Palace. Do you think American or British will like it?
