Bird Nest is located at North Fourth Ring Road in the north of Beijing. The construction of the Bird Nest began in December of 2003, and ended in 2007. It is 25.8 square meters in area, and can hold more than 90000 spectators. The structure of the building is based on a real bird nest build from wooden sticks, therefore giving it the name "Bird Nest". The track and field events, soccer tournaments, will be held at the Bird Nest, as well as other large-scale activities after the Olympic games. Kofi Annan appraised the Bird Nest as the most unbelievebly symbolic building in the history of the Olympic Games.
