There was once a man who had three sons.He had no fortune but the house. Each of the three sons wanted it after his death;but the father loved each one the same, and did not know how to treat them all fairly. At last,he said to his sons,”Go out into the world, and each learn a trade; when you come home.the one who makes ues of his trade best shall have the house.”
The sons were quite pleased with this plan. The eldest decided to be a farrier, the second a barber, and the third a fencing master. They then set off Luchily, they each found a good master with whom they learned their trade well.Three years later, they all went home. They wanted to show off their powers in front of their father.
They all went out.Suddenly, from nowhere a hare appeared and ran over the field. The barer took his bowl and his soap, and then he soaped it and shaved it as it walked along. He did his job so well that he didn’t miss a single hair .Before long,a carriage came along. The farrier ran after the carriage and tore the four shoes off the horse and put on new ones for it as it ran along. Then it began to rain, the third drew his sword and swirled it around his head.He remained dry as if he had been under a roof.
After seeing all their performances, their father was amazed and said,”You all have done very well. Now you are all able to live on your own.”The father was right. The brothers lived together in the house at first.Several years later, they all made enough money and built houses of their own.
