for example是英式英语,for instance是美式英语
就像lawyer和attorney都是律师,但前者英式后者美式一个道理.
都可以做书面语的,而口语中更多的是for example

Of course you could say "for example" in that example and it would be fine but I believe that for instance would be used in speech and for example is used in written form, especially in formal papers.

我认为，二者有些微差别比较准确。至少是for example 用得更多。
