定语从句,其实可以把which,that归为一类,where单独为一类.which that是代词,他们在定语从句中有有具体的成分,就是说,要么是从句中的主语,要么是从句中的宾语,比如：
Football is the game which is liked by most boys,可以看到which是定语从句中的主语.
where是副词,在从句中做状语,可以理解为不是具体的东西,不做主语,不做宾语,
判断的主要依据是看从句中的动词和be动词,如果动词或者be动词前面或者后面缺少主语或宾语,那么就得用which,that了.如果从句中句子成分完整,那么就得用副词,where,when等.
例子：This is the village where he was born.
上面这个句子先行词是地点,但不能就凭这一点就判断用where,从句是I go ,《go》为不及物动词,后面不需要跟宾语,就是说句子已经完整,所以用副词where.
怕你不理解再根据上面这个句子给你改一下：You shoud try the barber's ___ I like.
这样一改,like因为是及物动词,后面要跟宾语,所以就不能用where,得用which.
that which代指物的情况一般可以互换,不过也有几种特殊情况,比如说如果先行词被最高级修饰,那么就只能用that,其他情况不一一列举了,挺多,
