A：My topic today is about the Tulip Festival (郁金香节）in Ottawa (渥太华）,the capital city of Canada.
Each year in May, people in Ottawa will see thousands of tulips growing in Ottawa. Many people from other places travel even a long way to Ottawa to enjoy the beautiful scene (景色) of different tulips.
B： Why do people have such an event (事件）every year in Ottawa? The story goes like this:
In the Second World War, Nazi Germany invaded （侵略）and occupied (占领）the Netherlands (荷兰）, and the Dutch (荷兰的）royal (皇家）famliy fled (逃离）their motherland to Canada. Princess Juliana (朱利安娜公主）lived in Ottawa for several years. The Canadian people gave her a lot help.
A： Besides, in Europe, the Canadian soldiers defeated (打败）the German soldiers in the Netherlands, and liberated (解放)the country. To expess (表达）their thanks to Canada, the Dutch royal family gave many tulips to the Canadian people as a gift (礼物).
B：That's why there is a tulip festival each May in Canada's capital city.
本文讲加拿大首都渥太华每年五月的郁金香节.每年五月,渥太华都举办郁金香节.人们可以看到五颜六色光彩夺目的郁金香,也吸引很多远方的游人.渥太华的郁金香节还有一个故事的.二战的时候,荷兰被纳粹德国占领,荷兰皇室逃离荷兰,朱莉安娜公主逃到加拿大,住在渥太华,得到加拿大人民的帮助.在欧洲,加拿大士兵把荷兰从纳粹的占领下解放出来.为了感谢加拿大人民,荷兰皇室每年赠送郁金香给加拿大.这就是渥太华郁金香节的由来.
